Crom’s Crommentary: Canada’s Draconian Government Policies and the Censuring of Liz Cheney

Live from Music Row Wednesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Commentary.

CARMICHAEL SAID:

Michael, there are two issues. And I’m going to kind of tie them together, because if you look at what’s going on with the Canadian truckers, what you see is the establishment of the Republican Party.

And I’m not talking about the Bill Kristols that are the never-Trumper wing of the Republican Party, and you could fit all their members into a phone booth along with a bunch of pedophiles from the Lincoln Project.

But in regards to the Canadian trucker situation, The Wall Street Journal has come out in their editorial page against the Canadian truckers. And they say that they are breaking the law.

Here’s what they say: “The truckers should be prosecuted if they break the law, as we argued for Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter’s protesters on the Left.”

Well, let me say this: what the truckers are doing, and what Occupy Wall Street and especially Black Lives Matter [are doing], it’s not the same thing. But here’s what’s interesting.

My question is, and actually, I responded in the comments section of The Wall Street Journal. I said, did The Wall Street Journal support the protesters in Hong Kong? Did The Wall Street Journal support the protesters at Tiananmen Square?

Did The Wall Street Journal if they had existed, would they have supported the Tea Party in Boston many years ago? Because these were all acts of civil disobedience. The truckers are simply protesting against the Draconian government policies.

And all the government in Canada has to do to stop the truckers is to stop the Draconian policies – admit that they were wrong and return life to normal. But in a related story, you have the establishment of the Republican Party coming out against the RNC, which is now openly backing opponents of Cheney and Kinzinger.

Now, Kinzinger is not running for reelection, but Liz Cheney is. And the Republican Party in Wyoming has censored her. And I think the Republican Party, in general, has censored Cheney, and they’re claiming it’s because of her vote against Trump on the impeachment. And it’s not at all.

The censure is well deserved by Liz Cheney because she was appointed by Nancy Pelosi to the January 6 committee. She was not appointed by the leadership of her own party. And what she did was she stuck her finger directly in the eye of Kevin McCarthy and the Republican Party itself and said, I don’t care that Nancy Pelosi is running a rigged show. I’m going to participate.

And the Democrat Party would do more than just censor. They might throw Liz Cheney out of the Democrat Party had a Democrat done the same thing. Republicans, however, would not do what Nancy Pelosi is doing.

But I am glad to see that the Republican Party is standing up to Liz Cheney. It’s very sad, but not at all surprising that Mitt Romney and the leadership of the never-Trump wing of the Democrat Party, and it’s a small minority that’s still in politics that are coming out in favor of Liz Cheney. That part is disgraceful. What the Republican Party itself is doing is wonderful.
